Re: Model border in Spaces

Hi, Yes, it is needed to have open space above buildings to avoid turbulence at the model area top. Wind flow is disturbed by the buildings and space at the top is needed that the wind flow can be stabilized again. Otherwise it is pressed downwards and the whole simulation gets instable. I would not...

Re: Problem exporting surfaces to Spaces

Hi, Unfortunately, the error message does not help us here. We had some reports about those errors within the last year which seem to appear randomly. You may export the model area again / restart the PC and see if it works then... otherwise, you may attach the file here and I will debug it. Best re...

Re: Simulation error - vegetation problems?

Hi Philipp, Yes, that is possible in a texteditor such as Notepad++. You need to delete everything that is between the tag <dem3D> </dem3D> and the tags themselves. Additionally, the terrain heights in the 2D DEM field need to be 0 for every cell (found at the tag <dem>). There are multiple ways to ...

Re: Change in the asphalt surface

Hi Felix,

You somehow plotted building facade temperatures instead of surface temperatures of the soil. If you increase the albedo of the pavement, more shortwave radiation is reflected and the surrounding (the buildings) get hotter.

Re: Range Check Error

Hi,

My suggestion is that the output interval is too small since you have opened the output for 20:01. I would not recommend to go lower than 10 minutes. 30 Minutes should be very fine as well.

Re: Adding rainfall data and using EPW

Hi Luna,

For other parameters there are new input fields then because you can manage them also without FullForcing. Precipitation however can only be added during FullForcing mode. So, if you disable Force Precipitation, it is absolutely fine.

Re: Model border in Spaces

Hi, I would not say that it always needs to be 3 times bigger. Just make sure that maybe 1 block-width of buildings is added on each side which is not needed in your study results (so that they can be cut away in the output maps). What you did now is adding a lot of open space which is not necessary...

Re: Changing trees properties

Hi Hala,

The tree properties are updated automatically if you modify and save them in Albero.

Re: Problem exporting surfaces to Spaces

Hi, Great that it worked out for you. However, that is not the case. You are able to specify the default soil profile to be placed for the undefined soil areas in Monde: Before you click on Export in the Export to Model Area Dialog, you need to open More Options where this can be modified. Best rega...

Re: extensive and intensive green roofs

Hi, It probably did not change because the LAI was always the same value of 1.5. For higher trees (more thickness), the LAD is then much lower because LAD = LAI / height. You may need to plant trees in Spaces ontop of the roofs for intensive greening anyway instead of trying to implement it with the...

Re: Buildings disappear although height is low (vertical gridding into 5 sub-cells)

Hi Mathias, That is strange. It may be connected to the DEM. I'd always recommend to create a manual legend with nice step sizes anyway. Atmospheric values seem to start above 22.5 °C, so I'd begin with that value in the legend. I don't know why that should be a scientifically invalid solution. Best...

Re: Buildings disappear although height is low (vertical gridding into 5 sub-cells)

Hi Mathias,

I don't know why they should not be excluded in your case. Could you provide some screenshots? You can simply edit the legend manually where you are able to exclude the values.

Tim

Re: Buildings disappear although height is low (vertical gridding into 5 sub-cells)

Hi Mathias,

This button only changes the legend (if checked, the values inside buildings and DEM are excluded from the legend). You could also edit the legend manually.
Did you load the ENVI-met Defaults in the Special Layer Settings to draw objects instead of the invalid values?

Re: latent heat flux / storage heat flux

Hi, In the surface output, the latent heat flux is calculated for the soil / atmosphere boundary. For atmospheric cells it is not available since a flux always moves from something to something and that would not be clear. You may check the Vapour Flux output variable to see how much water is evapor...

Re: Building windows

Hi,

Well, that is not possible. You will need to create new materials beforehand where you import the externally averaged values of each physical parameter. The new wall will then consist out of 3 layers of this new averaged material.

Tim
