correct human parameters for PET

Post by avarth »

Hello Prof. Bruse

One quick question on setting the correct human parameters in Biomet. The calculation of PET assumes some standard human parameters (metabolic rate/clothing) which are the default in Biomet. Should I leave these settings as they are if I want to correctly calculate PET for different meteorological conditions or can I freely change them to arbitrary summer/winter values (eg: lower/higher clo value).

Thanks in advance

Hi
There is no standard setting for PET, so you can set them to any reasonable value
However, many people just use the defaults from PMV (35y male, 1.75 m,...) also for PET.
Clothing must be adjusted to the season and weather in any case to make sense...

Dear ENVI-met team,

I would like to ask if the newest Biomet version considers automatically diferent clo values for summer and winter conditions.

Thanks in advance

Hi,

No, it is not automatically changed. However, you are able to change the clothing factor in the personal parameters within Biomet.

Best regards,
Tim
